Ravi Belagere’s popular short story ‘Veshagalu’ is already being made into a film. Now director Narendra Babu is all set to bring Ravi Belagere’s popular novel ‘Bheemateerada Hantakaru’ to big screen.
‘Bheemateerada Hantakaru’ tells the shocking real-life story of violence that happened in the 1990s in a village of Vijayapura district, near the banks of the Bheema River. The title launch of the film was held recently and Ravi Belagere’s daughter, Bhavana Belagere will play her father’s role in the movie.
‘Bheemateerada Hantakaru’ is being produced by Shruti Anil Kumar and Suma under the banners of Sri Gavi Ranganathaswamy Pictures and Anjaneya Productions. Narendra Babu, who is popularly known as ‘Kabaddi’ Babu had earlier directed films like ‘Santheyalli Ninta Kabira’ and ‘Hottegagi Genu Battegagi’. Now Babu is all set to bring Ravi Belagere’s famous book on screen. The film aims to present a powerful and realistic story of violence and revenge that once shook the region.

Speaking at the event, Narendra Babu said that fights and violence have been happening on the banks of the Bheema River since ancient times. ‘The story begins with a small dispute between the families of Chandappa Harijan and Keshappa Tavarakhade. What starts as a minor issue grows into a major conflict and leads to terrible murders. Ravi Belagere had personally visited the real locations, studied the facts and then wrote the book. The film will closely follow the book’s content. Since the story has a lot of material, it will be made in two parts. The script for the first part is ready and covers events up to Siddappa’s murder’ said Babu.
Bhavana said she is very happy to play her father’s role. She said this film will be very different from the earlier version made on the same story. ‘At one point of time, the banks of the Bheema River were filled with bloodshed and around 60–70 people were killed in the conflict. The hatred between the families was so deep that it felt like it was rooted like a tree’ said Bhavana.
Likhith will play the role of Chandappa Harijan, while Jayavardhan, Sayaji Shinde, Sharath Lohithaswa and others play prominent roles in the film. K S Chandrashekar is the cinematographer, while Loki Tavasya is the music composer. A song written by Gopal Vajpayee will also be used in the film.
Stop judging films only for likes on social media says Ravichandran
