Not everybody gets a second chance in their life. But if we get a second chance, how will we utilize it? That is the story of this week’s release ‘Lucky Man’.
The film is the story of three best friends Arjun (Krishna), Anu (Sangeetha Sringeri) and Shetty (Nagabhushan). One day, Anu suggests getting married to Arjun. He first ignores her proposal, but gets married soon. However, their marriage doesn’t materialize and they end up in court for filing a divorce in just one year. When Arjun blames this turn of events on the gods, he is called by a god (Puneeth Rajkumar) to a mysterious place called Love Court, where he gives him a second chance. He is given a ticket to rewind his life, but on a condition that he must not reveal the secret to anyone. With a second chance, can Arjun set right his life and find true love?
‘Lucky Man’ is the remake of Tamil hit ‘Oh My Kaduvule’ which was released two years back. Debutante director Nagendra Prasad presents the film in Kannada with not many changes. The film has some refreshing elements that make it different from the usual rom-coms. Here the hero is a normal next door guy who does many flaws in his life. He is not the regular Mr. Perfect type and the story revolves around the mistakes he does in his life. There is no glorification for the hero in the film and that’s what makes the film different from the regular crop of the film. Another highlight of the film is every character in the film is shown in two different shades. While a few characters look negative in the first half, their positive sides are shown in the second half.
In spite of film being different, it has its own share of flaws. The first half of the film is quite engaging and moves quickly. However, the second half is not only slow, but quite lagging. The film becomes too predictable. The film gets back the speed in pre-climax and the film ends on a happy note. However, the audience leave the theaters teary eyed after watching Puneeth dance to the tunes of ‘Baaro Raja’ which is last dance number.
‘Lucky Man’ boasts some wonderful performances by Krishna, Sangeetha Sringeri, Puneeth Rajkumar and Rangayana Raghu. Krishna has played a very different role in his career and the actor does a commendable job. Sangeetha Sringeri is at her best. Rangayana Raghu as usual has given a neat performance. Puneeth Rajkumar does his role with style. His voice has been retained in this film.
‘Lucky Man’ is different rom-com with fantasy elements and is an easy one time watch.
