Trailer of Rajendra Singh Babu’s ‘Veera Kambala’ released

Veteran director S V Rajendra Singh Babu released his 18-year-old film ‘Raktha Kashmira’ recently. The film went unnoticed at the box-office despite a big star cast and many highlights. Now the director is back with his latest offering ‘Veera Kambala’.

‘Veera Kambala’ is all set to hit the screens on the 27th of February. Meanwhile, the songs and trailer of the film were released by veteran music composer and lyricist Hamsalekha.

Kambala is a traditional buffalo race that is closely connected to the life and culture of the Coastal Karnataka, which is also called as the Tulu Nadu region. It has attracted filmmakers for many years, but no one had fully captured it on screen before. Rajendra Singh Babu, who has a deep connection with the Dakshina Kannada region, has worked for several years to bring this story to life. At the same time, the Tulu version of the film, titled ‘Birdda Kambla’, was also unveiled.

Speaking during the occasion, Hamsalekha said he was very happy to release the trailer. He compared the art to a young woman who never grows old or weak, saying art keeps a person alive and energetic.

‘Kambala is a symbol of bravery and the film ‘Veera Kambala’ is like a special offering from art to this brave tradition. I wish success to Rajendra Singh Babu and the entire team for bringing the spirit and smell of Tulu Nadu’s soil to the screen’ said the music composer.

Rajendra Singh Babu spoke about how the story was created, how Kambala was shown visually and the exciting elements surrounding the tradition. Interestingly, the story also connects Kambala with the Mumbai underworld, adding thrilling twists to the plot.

‘Veera Kambala’ is produced under Baba’s Blessing Films banner by Dr. Vineeth Vijay Kumar Reddy and Arun Rai Thodar. The movie stars Aditya, Prakash Raj and Ravi Shankar in lead roles, while Radhika Narayan plays a special role. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade is seen in a significant role in the film. Popular Tulu theatre artists like Naveen Padil, Gopinath Bhat, Swaraj Shetty, Mime Ramadas and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor are part of the cast.

The screenplay and dialogues are written by Vijay Kumar Kodialbail. Music is composed by Manikanth Kadri while R Giri is the cinematographer.
