Film: Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali
Producer: Rakshit Shetty
Director: Chandrajith Belliappa
Starring: Vihan Gowda, Ankita Amar, Mayuri Nataraj, Girija Shettar and others
A few days back during the trailer launch of ‘Ibbanni Tabbida Ileyali, Rakshit Shetty, the producer of the film had predicted that lead actors of the film Vihan Gowda and Ankita Amar are sure to get awards for their performances in the film. Yes, Rakshit is right. Vihan and Ankita Amar will surely be the nominees in not only many award events, but the film will definitely contest in other categories also.
‘Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali’ is a romantic musical drama which revolves around a few characters. The film starts off with Sid (Vihan) walking out of the marriage with Radha (Mayuri Nataraj). Why? Because he has a love story to tell. Why? Because he has not come out of his old love story fully. Why? Because he is not fully ready for another new story as he has not finished the old one. So, what happens next? Don’t miss this film.
At the outset, ‘Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali’ looks like an ordinary triangular love story. That’s not right. This is not a triangular love story or poor loves rich. The film is a mature saga of love. The story is about an emotional story of individuals who are fighting their own battles. Not that these kinds of films are not new to Kannada, but the execution by director Chandrajith Belliappa and his team who makes the film lovable and watchable.
Though ‘Ibbani Tabbida Ileyali’ is a simple love story, Chandrajith does not narrate it as simply. He narrates the story in a non-linear format in 10 different chapters. He makes the viewer as if he is not seeing the film, but reading a book. He takes the viewer into a magical world with an engaged narrative, good performances, soulful music and good visuals.
The highlight of the film is of course the performances of lead actors Ankita Amar and Vihan. Ankita is the best among the two. She compels the audience to not only fall in love with her, but also love for life. The audience will definitely take away Ankita’s smile and her expressions along with them. She carries the film smoothly on her shoulders. Vihan has also given a brilliant performance. Mayuri Nataraj’s role is short compared to the other two, but she makes her mark in the limited presence. The rest of the star cast including Girija Shettar gives ample support.
Technically, the film is very good and is rich in values. Gagan Baderiya’s music and Srivathsan Selvarajan’s cinematography take the film to the next level. The only problem that the audience may find in the film is its length. The film is 160 minutes in length and audience who likes pacy and racy scripts, may not like this slow-paced film. Apart from this, it’s quite difficult to pinpoint negatives in this film.
Watch this enchanting tale of love in theaters and not wait for the film to release in OTT or small screen.
