Sandalwood actor-director ‘Duniya’ Vijay’s daughter Monica has made her debut with ‘Production No 2’ which was launched on Thursday in Bangalore.
Monica’s name has been changed to Ritanya and the actress will be known with her screen name in the future.
The untitled film is a story between a father and daughter and Ritanya will be playing the role of ‘Duniya’ Vijay’s daughter in the film. The real-life father daughter will be essaying the role of father and daughter in the film also. The film has been written and directed by Jadesh Hampi, who had earlier directed ‘Raja Hamsa’, ‘Gentleman’ and ‘Guru Shishyaru’.
There was news that Ritanya would be making her debut in Sandalwood for some time and the news has indeed come true. Speaking about introducing Ritanya, ‘there was a challenging role in the film and I was looking for a suitable actress. The character has a lot of variations and more than a heroine, Ritanya will be recognized as an actress. It’s my luck that Ritanya accepted to be a part of the film’ says Jadesh Hampi.
Vijay says he did not have intention of bringing his children to cinema industry. ‘But my girls wanted to be a part of the industry. I did not want to say no to them. Ritanya has done a lot of preparations as an actress before making her debut. I strongly believe that she is here to stay’ says ‘Duniya’ Vijay.
On changing her name from Monica to Ritanya, ‘there is a lot of confusion between me and my sister. My name is Monica, while her name is Monisha. People used to get confused with out names. To avoid the confusion, I decided to change my name in the film and I want to be known as Ritanya’ in the future.
