‘Premada Oorali’ stands firm against ‘Jailer 2’ and ‘Ranabaali’

No one expected director Manoj Kumar’s film ‘Premada Oorali’ to achieve such remarkable success at the box-office. Released without much publicity, the film, starring Sriram and Rangayana Raghu, has set a new record by earning Rs. 36.40 crore in its third week.

Released on September 26, ‘Premada Oorali’ earned just Rs. 5.32 crore in its first week. The film’s collections rose to Rs. 23.65 crore in the second week and Rs. 36.40 crore in the third week, according to box-office tracker Sacnilk.com. The film has reportedly earned a total of Rs. 65.37 crore over the three weeks. This figure represents gross collections and after deducting expenses, the producers are believed to have made a profit of more than Rs. 30 crores.

The film performed well during its first three weeks, but there were expectations that its collections might decline in the fourth week. This was because Rajinikanth starrer ‘Jailer 2’ and Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Ranabaali’ were released during this period. Moreover, heavy rainfall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday was expected to affect the film’s box-office performance.

Despite the release of ‘Jailer 2’ and the heavy rain on Thursday, ‘Premada Oorali’ earned Rs. 3.15 crore. Its collections are also expected to cross Rs. 3 crores on Friday. With five more days of Dasara holidays remaining, the film is expected to earn between Rs. 20 crore and Rs. 30 crore this week.

Sriram plays the lead role in the film, with Tapaswini Poonacha and Ramika Shivu as the female leads. Rangayana Raghu appears in a prominent role. Produced under the banners of Vanilla Entertainments and Janakamma Productions, ‘Premada Oorali’ features music composed by Sunad Gowtham. Rajkanth S. K. has handled the cinematography, while Harshith Prabhu is the editor.
