A lot of tragic love stories have come in the past and the audience are not bored in spite of seeing ‘N’ number of love stories on screen. This week’s release ‘Love Reddy’ is another tragic love story with honor killing as its backdrop.

‘Love Reddy’ is set in the border region of Karnataka and Andhra and tells the love story of Narayan Reddy (Anjan Ramachandra) and Divya (Shravani). Reddy is a most eligible bachelor in his household and is looking for a bride who understand his emotions. Meanwhile, he meets Divya a government employee in a bus and it is love at first sight for him. Slowly they turn good friends. Reddy assumes that Divya is in love with him and e also refrains from expressing his feelings to his lady love. One day, Reddy learns that Divya has gotten engaged to someone else. What happens next forms the crux of the film.

Director Smaran Reddy shows promise in his debut film. Smaran manages to engage the audience with his twists and turns. The first half of the film is quite slow and the film gains momentum only after the hero confronts the heroine about her real feelings for him. Otherwise, the film is a typical story of a boy falling in love with a girl which is opposed by her father. Though the emotional struggle of the lover is depicted well, the film at times lacks intensity and is quite slow. However, it is the last 20 minutes which is quite intense and compelling.

The film has been shot in the border towns of Karnataka and Andhra and stars mostly Kannada actors. The team could have easily shot the film in Kannada simultaneously. However, the film has been made in Telugu and is dubbed to Kannada. The audience sure gets irked because of lip sync error. The slang used here is not often Kannada films and is one of the highlights of the film

Lead actors Anjan and Shravani have excelled in their debut film itself. They are at natural ease in their performances. Ramaswamy as the heroine’s father gets a special mention for his portrayal of his characters. The rest of the cast have done their bit effectively.

The film features two hummable songs composed by Prince Henry.
