Actor-director Upendra had earlier confirmed that he will be playing a role in ‘Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ and will be joining the sets after the release of his ‘UI’ in October.
Now the actor has officially confirmed with a poster that he is indeed a part of the film. Upendra on Sunday has shared a poster in his ‘X’ account, saying that he is feeling blessed to share screen space with Superstar Rajni sir. He also thanked his director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Upendra will be playing the role of Kaleesha in the film.
‘Coolie’ is 171th film of Rajinikanth and the actor had earlier played a coolie in films like ‘Mannan’, ‘Uzhaipaali’ and ‘Mullum Malarum’. The film is said to be not a part of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s cinematic universe.
Rajinikanth was last seen in his daughter Aishwarya’s directorial ‘Lal Salaam’ which was released earlier this year. The superstar is currently looking forward for the release of ‘Vettaiyan’ where he is sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil and others. The film will be releasing on the 10th of October.
‘Coolie’ is being produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures who had earlier produced Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ and others. Anirudh Ravichander is the music composer.
The film boasts of an ensemble star cast including Rajinikanth, Upendra, Nagarjuna, Shruthi Haasan, Satyaraj, Soubin and others in prominent roles. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan is said to be playing a cameo in the film.
