‘Shivamma Yerhanchinala’ produced by Rishab Shetty and directed by Jaishankar Aryar has been in the news in the recent times. The film has has received positive reviews from its screenings at several film festivals across the world.
The film revolves around Shivamma who resides in a small village called Yerehanchinala in North Karnataka. Shivamma, a smart but impoverished woman, has a lot of family problems. There is no member working in the family, except Shivamma who is employed at a government school as an assistant. Meanwhile, Shivamma is introduced to a dietary supplement network marketing company. Shivamma’s optimism grows and she tries to sell the dietary supplement in her and neighbouring villages. Will her standard of living improve with this or will it get more complicated is a question that will be answered in the movie with a duration of two hours.
‘Shivamma Yerhanchinala’ is a comedy drama with non-stop laughs. The highlight of the film is a story of a middle aged and uneducated lady, against all odds aspires to succeed in business. Her never say die mentality is an inspiration to everyone. Though the story seems serious, Jaishankar adds a pinch of humour to the tale and makes it an entertainer for the whole family.
The cast is made up of a group of new actors who play characters that are serious by nature but who the audience finds funny. Sharanamma Chatti’s portrayal of Shivamma is the greatest asset of the film. The rest of the cast including Chennamma Abbegere, Shivu Abbegere, Shruthi Kondenahalli and others make the film a delightful watch. It would be wrong to say that they have acted, but they have portrayed the characters like in the real life.
Kudos to director Jaishankar for not only selecting people who are apt for the characters, but also taking the best from them. The ambience and the nativity are very realistic.
‘Shivamma Yerhanchinala’ is a good film for the entire family. Don’t miss it.
