The makers of ‘Usire Usire’ had announced that the film is based on a real incident, but had not disclosed on which incident the film is based. Well, the film is based on the horrifying accident that separated Harish Nanjappa into two parts a few years ago. Rather than hurrying to his aid, the bystanders used their phones to shoot and take pictures of this shocking incident. ‘Usire Usire’ concludes with this tragic incident and a social message about humanity.

Well, what does this has to do with the film. Nothing actually. The sole purpose of the writer cum director of the film is to show this incident and message on screen. For that he has woven a story which is nowhere connected to the incident.

‘Usire Usire’ is a Hindu Muslim love story revolving around Manu and Saira. Manu (Rajeev Hanu) and Saira (Srijitha Ghosh) are neighbours and are born on the same day. They are the thickest of friends in childhood and gets separated due to various reasons. The duo meets again in their college days and love blossoms between them. Meanwhile, there is a communal riot in the village and the duo escape to build a new life. What happens next forms the crux of the film.

Actually speaking, there is no particular plot in the movie to boast off. The first half of the story is wasted with some silly college drama and the boy meets the girl scenes. The second half also is very poor and boring and tries the patience of the audience. The only thing is to watch out in the film is the climax based on the real incident.

The film’s title is derived from the popular song of Sudeep’s ‘Huchcha’. But what has it do with the film? Nothing. The film is a normal love story that transcends caste and religion and nothing beyond that. There are hundreds of such movies and ‘Usire Usire’ is one among them.

As there is no stuff in the film, the director brings in some unnecessary and silly comedy scenes featuring Ali and Bramhanandam which is nowhere connected to the film. Even Devaraj’s scenes have nothing to with the film. The seniors have done their bit, but what a waste of talent!

Sudeep is seen in a cameo as himself. His presence was not at all necessary and the actor might have done this cameo only for his friendship with Rajeev and nothing else. Rajeev, Srijitha struggle hard to perform. Suchendra Prasad, Rajesh Nataranga, Tara, Sadhu Kokila and others have done their bit.

‘Usire Usire’ is a film with a good message. But in terms of conveying the message, talent, time and energy are wasted. Even Sudeep’s cameo can’t save this film.
