Sandalwood’s iconic film ‘Apthamitra’ directed by P Vasu and produced by Dwarkish has completed 18 years on Saturday. Actor Ramesh Aravind plays a prominent role has remembered the film in social media.
‘Apthamitra’ starring Dr Vishnuvardhan, Ramesh Aravind, Soundarya, Avinash, Dwarkish, Prema and others is a remake of Malayalam hit ‘Manichithrathazhu’. The film was released on the 27th of August in 2004 on the auspicious occasion of the Varamahalakshmi festival. The film was the last film of actress Soundarya in Kannada.
The film went on to become a blockbuster and gave a fresh lease of life to actor-producer Dwarkish who had lost from many of his films. The film was not only the highest grossing films of the year but also was remade in Tamil by director P Vasu. The film titled ‘Chandramukhi’ had Jyothika playing the titular role along with Rajanikanth and Prabhu.
