‘Guliga Guliga …’ song from Koragajja released on Zee Music

Kannada, News, Pan India

Director Sudheer Attavar recently previewed two songs from his film Koragajja at a pan-India press meet in Mangalore. Now one of those two songs has been released on Zee Music.

This song, about the feared, bloodthirsty deity of Karavali known as ‘Guliga’, was written by lyricist and director Sudheer Attavar himself. The track, which goes on with the refrain “Guliga guliga guliga guliga guliga ghora guliga …,” was musically arranged by acclaimed South Indian composer Gopi Sundar. Renowned Bollywood singer Javed Ali joined Sudheer Attavar and Gopi Sundar in lending their voices to the song.

According to folklore about Guliga’s birth, he was born as the 24th son of Nelavulla Sankeya. From the moment he was born he suffered such a terrible hunger that, even after drinking the blood of a thousand chickens and a thousand horses, his hunger would not abate — until the little finger of Lord Narayana drained all his blood.

The fearsome ritual of Guliga’s dance is celebrated with intensity in Tulu Nadu. The scene where Guliga meets Panjurli and Koragajja will be shown in the film. The fierce dance of Guliga is choreographed by famous Sandeep Soparkar. Sardar Satya plays the role of Panjurli. This scene was filmed at Someshwara beach in Mangalore with two cranes and five cameras.
