Director: Simple Suni

Producer: Mysore Ramesh

Starring: Vinay Rajkumar, Swathishta Krishnan, Mallika Singh, Rajesh Nataranga, Sadhu Kokila and others

‘Simple’ Suni is a director who is known for his films with simple stories, premises and characters. Though Suni claims that his new film ‘Ondu Sarala Premakathe’ is a very simple one in the title itself, it is not as simple as it sounds.

The film revolves around Athishay (Vinay Rajkumar) an aspiring music director. He has only two dreams in his life. While, one is to be a successful music director, the other one is to find a girl who matches his feelings. After a lot of search, he finally finds a singer (Mallika Singh) who matches his feelings. But destiny has other things in store for him. Will Athishay able to fulfill both of his dreams forms the crux of the film.

Though the story might look simple, it has lot of twists and turns. The film starts in Rajasthan, comes to Bangalore, moves to Mumbai and Rajasthan again. The story revolves in all these places and many characters come in the life of Athishay and contribute to the story and sometimes make the story more complicated.

The film starts off with Athishay telling his story. The film takes time to establish all the characters and plot of the film. The story picks up momentum only during the pre-interval block with an unexpected twist. The plot thickens only in the second half and the film has quite a lot of coincidences which is quite hard for the audience to digest.

Suni on his part establishes in the beginning of the film itself, that there is a twist even after the climax also. So, one should wait till the closing credits as the director maintains the suspense till the end.

Like his previous films, Suni is back with a fun filled light hearted entertainer for the whole family. Suni is always known for his witty one-liners that evoke laughter. That’s what save ‘Ondu Sarala Premakathe’ also. Apart from the one-liners, situational comedy and some twists make the film enjoyable in spite of a slow pace.

Vinay Rajkumar is back to silver screen after a five-year gap. This time he is seen in a not so typical hero character, but a very normal youth. There is no heroism or dances and fights for Vinay and the actor carries the role smoothly. He tries to evoke laughter with a few one-liners. Of the two heroines, Swathishta Krishna has very good role and the she handles the responsibility very neatly. She is very expressive and is one of the highlights of the film. Mallika Singh has really not much to do. Rajesh Nataranga as the father gives a very fine performance.

Music composer Veer Samarth is another highlight of the film. After a long gap, Veer has finally found a film to prove his mettle and the music composer lifts the film with his melodies. Cinematographers Karthik and Sabha Kumar gives a colorful touch to the story.
