One of the busiest actresses in Sandalwood currently is none other than Dhanya Ramkumar, granddaughter of Dr Rajkumar. The actress who has only one release till now has her hands full with many films. Dhanya spoke to Kannada Screens about her choice of films, priorities and future.
What is your priority while accepting a film?
As an actress I feel lucky because till now I have got some good scripts. While accepting a project, I make it a priority to look if the content is fresh. I also see that is the story trendy enough to garner the audience attention. I don’t want to be a stereotypical actress. I have portrayed different characters in different films so far. I want to continue that and I want to live 100 roles through my lens.
You have your hands full with many films?
I consider myself lucky regarding that. I have completed ‘Kalapatthar’, ‘Hide and Seek’ and looking forward for the release of these films. Apart from that I am acting in ‘The Judgement’, ‘Powder’ and ‘Ella Ninagagi’. I have been busy in not only films, but in other collaborations like Jewelries.
Which kind of roles or movies do you like personally?
I love the mystery genre a lot. I have heard lots of stories in this genre and I am yet to be a part of this genre. Recently, a team narrated a story to me which is exciting. But it is still in the initial stages.
You were supposed to do other language films?
Yes, but it didn’t work out due to various reasons. A couple of teams approached me to be a part of their films, but I was busy with Kannada films. If I get an opportunity and if I am free, I will definitely act in other language films.
Any other plans to venture in to other aspects of cinema?
Though I learnt acting in a theatre group, I couldn’t act in any plays because, I got an opportunity to act in films. I would like to perform on stage. I would also like to direct and write scripts. But that will be in the later part of my career as I am busy with my acting assignments and my focus is on acting.
How much comfortable are you with glamorous roles?
Till now I have not got any out and out glamorous roles or songs in any of my films. I don’t say I won’t accept such kind of roles, but I have my own limitations before accepting glamorous roles. Particularly, I have to respect my family values. The other thing is I just don’t want to do it for the sake and has to check whether it suits my character or not?
