Raj B Shetty’s new film ‘Toby’ is all set to release on the 25th of August. Meanwhile, the actor-director has said that the film is his best film till date.
Recently, the first look poster of the film was released in Lulu Mall in Bangalore. The cast and crew of the film were present and Raj B Shetty for the first time has opened about the film.
‘A sheep plays a prominent role in the film. I play a rugged character and that is one part of the film. ‘Toby’ is more mass than ‘Garuda Gamana Vrushabha Vahana’. Only one part of the film has bloodshed. Apart from that, this film is purely a family entertainer. I believe that we have to do films with good content which bring audience to the theaters. This film is of that approach’ says Raj B Shetty.

Raj says though the film has good content, it is very much a commercial film aimed for the masses. ‘When we do a commercial film, there are some regular formulas including fights, item songs and some powerful characters. But we have cut down all these formulas and have made a commercial film. This is quite experimental. But it gives new experience. For that experience, this role and the setup is quite nearer’ says the actor-director.
Raj says this is the toughest film in his career till date. ‘When we made ‘Ondu Motteya Kate’, we thought it would be quite difficult to reach the audience. Then we thought that ‘Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana’ was tougher. But after working for this film, I could not walk or talk for one week because it was very difficult. We have pushed the film to our very best limit and I think this is my best film till date’ says Raj Shetty.
The film stars Raj B Shetty along with Samyuktha Hornad, Chaitra Achar, Gopalakrishna Deshapande, Deepak Raj Shetty and others in prominent roles. Mithun Mukundan is the music composer, while Praveen Shriyan is the cinematographer.
‘Toby’ is written by T K Dayanand and directed by Basil Alchalakkal. The film has been jointly produced by Ravi Rai Kalasa under Lighter Buddha Films, Agasthya Films and Coffee Gang Studio. KVN Productions has acquired the distribution rights of the film and will be releasing it in Karnataka.
