As the title itself suggest, ‘Melody Drama’ is a film with melody and lots of drama. Debutante Manju Karthik in order to woo the family audience has tried all the tricks in the trade to appeal to them.
The film starts off with Hita (Supritha Sathayanarayan) running out from her marriage. She happens to meet a masked man who agrees to drop her to Madikeri. She slowly finds that it is her ex-husband Karthik (Satya) and goes on a journey with him. The couple had separated due to some misunderstandings between them. Will the journey help them to forget their differences and unite once again or will they separate forever forms the crux of the film.
‘Melody Drama’ is a travel film which starts in Jog Falls and ends in Gol Gombuz in Bijapur. Meanwhile, the film travels to Mysore, Madikeri, Murudeshwara, Hubli and other places. The film not only travels to some of the picturesque locations of Karnataka, but also to the past and the present lives of Karthik and Satya.

The film could have been a good romantic drama. But some scenes including the father-daughter emotions make the film lengthy. The film looks very preachy in parts and some scenes have been added deliberately to convey some messages to the audience. If the makers would have concentrated on these aspects and trimmed some unwanted scenes the film could have been much better.
Apart from this, there are some fine aspects including the music and the cinematography. Kiran Ravindranath who is known for melodious songs has composed some heartwarming songs including ‘Endu Endendu’ and ‘Ondu Becchane Bhavane’ by Sonu Nigam, ‘Yaaru Bareda Kavithe’ by Palak Mucchal are a treat to hear. Cinematographer Manu D B Halli has not only picturised the songs very well, but has presented the film very well throughout with his work.
Supritha Sathyanarayan looks attractive. Satya is jaded throughout. The duo has to work a lot in terms of acting. It is the senior actors including Anu Prabhakar, Rangayana Raghu, Lakshmi Siddaiah and Rajesh Nataranga who keeps the audience engaged with their performance. Anu Prabhakar in his first negative role shines with a different mannerism and dialogue delivery.
