Shivarajkumar’s new film ‘Bhairathi Ranagal’ which is a prequel to his super hit film ‘Mufti’ was launched in Bangalore on Friday. The film is being directed by Narthan.

‘Bhairathi Ranagal’ is being produced by Geetha Shivarajkumar under Geetha Banners. This is the second film of the production house after ‘Veda’ which was released last year. The launch of the film was held at the Band Mahakali Temple in Bangalore. Geetha Shivarajkumar sounded the clap for the first shot of the film.

‘Mufti’ was released in 2017 and the film was a huge hit. Just after the success of the film, there was news that Narthan would be directing a sequel called ‘Bhairathi Ranagal’ with Shivarajkumar in the lead role. However, Narthan took six years for the film to be launched.

Shivarajkumar said he loves the character of Bhairathi Ranagal. ‘When I first heard the character during the time of ‘Mufti’ I was apprehensive whether I should do the film or not? My character comes only during the pre-interval. I don’t have the intention to shine throughout the film. But I was still apprehensive. But Narthan’s sketch of the character was wonderful. There is violence in the silence of Bhairathi Ranagal and I liked it a lot. That’s why I accepted to be a part of the film. The film became a huge hit. That continues her also’ says Shivarajkumar.

The actor says there was a plan of sequel earlier, even though the film is being launched now. ‘During the shoot of ‘Mufti’ itself, we had talked about doing a film with the character of Bhairathi Ranagal and his story before ‘Mufti’. We can do another film after he goes to jail. We have a lot of stuff to tell. Right now, we are talking about how Bhairathi Ranagal becomes a gangster. Though this is a sequel, this is actually a prequel’ says Shivarajkumar.

Many of the cast and crew of ‘Mufti’ will be continuing here also. The shooting for the film will start from the 10th of June. The shoot will be held in Mysore, Bellary and other places.
