Sandalwood celebrities including Nikhil Kumar and B C Patil who had contested in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections have lost in their respective constituencies.
This time many celebrities including actors Nikhil Kumar, B C Patil, Kumar Bangarappa, C P Yogeshwar, producers H D Kumaraswamy, Munirathna, Ashok Kheny, Madhu Bangarappa had contested in the MLA elections which were held on the 10th of May. The results are out on Saturday (13th May) and Nikhil Kumar, B C Patil, C P Yogeshwar, Kumar Bangarappa and Ashok Kheny have lost in their constituencies.

While, Nikhil Kumar who contested from a Janatha Dal Secular ticket from the Ramanagara constituency, his father and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who is also a producer of films like ‘Suryavamsha’ ‘Galaate Aliyandru’, ‘Jaguar’ and others contested from Chennapatna constituency. While, Nikhil lost in the election, H D Kumaraswamy won against C P Yogeshwar who contested on a BJP ticket.
All eyes were on the siblings Kumar Bangarappa and Madhu Bangarappa who contested against each other in Soraba constituency. While, Kumar Bangarappa contested from Bharatiya Janatha Party, Madhu Bangarappa won from Congress.
Well known actor-producer B C Patil who contested in Hirekerur from a BJP ticket had announced earlier, that this would be his last election. However, the actor-producer lost the election making way for a Congress candidate.
Well known businessman and producer Ashok Kheny who contested from a Congress ticket in Bidar also lost the elections. Umapathy Srinivas Gowda who contested against Sathish Reddy in the Bommannahalli constituency lost there. Another producer Munirathna from BJP who contested from Rajarajeshwari Nagar won over Kusuma from Congress.
KPCC president and Chief Minister Candidate D K Shivakumar who won against R Ashok in the Kanakapura constituency with a margin of One lakh votes is also a distributor and exhibitor in Kannada film industry and has good ties with many celebrities of Sandalwood.
