Kerala Court lifts ban on ‘Varaha Roopam’ song from ‘Kantara’

The Kozhikode District Court in Kerala has lifted the ban against ‘Varaha Roopam’ song from ‘Kantara’ due to lack of jurisdiction and and the interim order against the song has been cancelled.

Earlier, Kerala’s popular musical band Thaikkudam Bridge have accused makers of ‘Kantara’ for plagiarising their popular song ‘Navarasam’ and had warned legal action against the makers.

Thaikkudam Bridge had moved to Court and had sought legal action against the makers and the Court has asked the makers of ‘Kantara’ to not to use the song in any of the platforms. The court ruled in favour of Thaikkudam Bridge and imposed an interim injunction against the song. According to that, ‘Varaha Roopam’ couldn’t be played in the film, without the permission of Thaikkudam Bridge’.

The Kozhikode District Court in Kerala dismissed their plea citing lack of jurisdiction. So, the interim order against the ‘Varaha Roopam’ stands cancelled and the song can be played in any of the platforms in the coming days.
