Review: ‘Dil Pasand’ is a film with good message and a weak storyline

Film: Dil Pasand

Producer: Sumanth Kranthi

Director: Shiva Tejas

Starring: ‘Darling’ Krishna, Nishvika Naidu, Megha Shetty, Rangayana Raghu, Aruna Balaraj, Ajay Rao and others

The title of ‘Darling’ Krishna’s latest release ‘Dil Pasand’ is derived from a baked sweet dish. But the film has nothing to do with it. No comparison can be drawn as the film is neither sweet nor anything to cherish.

‘Dil Pasand’ is a regular comedy story of a youth torn between two girls. The film starts off with Santhosh (Krishna) the protagonist who is an eligible bachelor. His parents fix his marriage with Minchu (Megha Shetty). Meanwhile, Santhosh happens to accidentally meet Aishu (Nishvika Naidu) in a drunken state. He helps her to stay in a lodge. Aishu doubts his character and gives him a 45 day waiting period, which will decide his future. What is that 45 day period and what happens next forms the crux of the film.

‘Dil Pasand’ is not new to Krishna. His previous ventures ‘The Lucky Man’ and ‘Love Mocktail’ also had him featuring along with two heroines and torn between the two. So, much can’t be expected from this film. However, the team has managed to package the film in a grand style with a stylish making. But except for a good message in the second half of the film, the film has nothing new to offer.

The film starts off with a commentary mimicking former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s voice. The film goes flat till Santhosh meets Aishu. The film actually gets a pace only in the second half of the film, when Minchu cancels her engagement with Santhosh. Of course, there are some comic sequences which make the audience laugh. But most of the film is slow and nothing new to offer.

The film mainly revolves around Krishna and Nishvika. The duo has done a commendable job. Megha Shetty who is a big name in small screen makes her debut in this film. The actress has a long way to go. Rangayana Raghu as Krishna’s father is good. Tabla Naani,Giri and Sadhu Kokila’s scenes are irritating. Visuals by Shekhar Chandru look grand. Arjun Janya’s music and background music doesn’t help the film much.

Overall, ‘Dil Pasand’ is another run of the mill comedy which has nothing to cherish.
