Kerala’s popular musical band Thaikkudam Bridge have accused makers of ‘Kantara’ for plagiarising their popular song ‘Navarasam’ and has warned legal action against the makers.
The climax song of Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ called ‘Varaha Roopam’ is said to be very much inspired from the ‘Navarasam’ song from the band. The song ‘Varaha Roopam’ which the music company claims to be a copy is composed by Ajaneesh Lokanath and sung by Sai Vignesh.
The band has issued a statement on its social media handles expressing their intention to take legal action against the makers of the film.
Thaikkudam Birdge has shared a long not saying that, ‘from our standpoint, the line between ‘inspired’ and ‘plagiarised’ is distinct and indisputable and therefore we will be seeking legal action against the creative team responsible for this. There has been no acknowledgement of our rights over the content and is propagated as an original piece of work by the movie’s creative team’ says the note.
It’s been nearly a month since ‘Kantara’ has been released. But why has the issue cropped up now is the issue. If Thaikkudam Bridge feels that if ‘Varaha Roopam’ is a copy of ‘Navarasam’, then why did it take up the matter earlier? Why has it been silent so far? Were there any discussions about monetary issues between the two parties? are the questions that are yet to be answered in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the makers of ‘Kantara’ have not responded to the plagiarism issue. What would be the answer of Hombale Films regarding the whole issue is yet to be seen?
