Dhananjay has been experimenting with a lot of different roles and films. Whether it is being a son searching for his original mother in ‘Badava Rascal’, an auto rickshaw driver fighting to get his lover or a police inspector searching for lost youth in ’21 Hours’ … Dhananjay is doing everything to prove himself a versatile actor. The actor continues with playing a street smart rowdy in his latest offering ‘Head Bush’.
‘Head Bush’ tells the story of Bangalore underworld in the 1970s and the film revolves around Bangalore’s first don M P Jayaraj. The film tells the story of rise of a rowdy called Jayaraj to a mass hero in Bangalore. In short, it is the story of power, politics and gangsters.
Though the story is about a don, it also tells about how politicians use gangsters to be in power and how their greed gave rise to the evolution of underworld in Bangalore. It also tells the story of friendship and how a small incident changes the course of not only their friendship, but the underworld.
The film starts off with Chief Minister Devaraj Urs’s (Devaraj) plan to start Indira Brigade in Karnataka and make Jayaraj as its Bangalore president. Jayaraj who was a small rowdy by then, with power from political circles grows in the Bangalore’s underworld. How the politicians who use him as a pawn slowly bring him down forms the crux of the film.
The first half of the film moves away in establishing the various characters and the scenario in 1970s. The first half of the film is actually slow and the actual story starts in the second half of the film. Particularly, the film gains momentum after a clash between Dhananjay and Yogi. What all happens is told in an intense way.
‘Head Bush’ is an out and out mass film which can be enjoyed by mass film lovers. There is a lot of bloodshed and cuss words which might not go well with family audiences. The Karaga scenes are one of the highlights of the film.
Dhananjay as usual walks away with all glory with his performance. He has done his job very easily. Yogi has also a very good role in the film and will be liked by the audiences. Vasishta Simha, Balu Nagendra, Raghu Mukherjee, Devaraj, Shruthi Hariharan have given good performances. Payal Rajput and Ravichandran has nothing much to do. The other highlight of the film is the background music by Charan Raj.
‘Head Bush’ is a treat for mass film lovers. Watch it if you are one.
