Puneeth Rajkumar’s ‘James’ has created a record of sorts by collecting Rs.25 crores on the release day in Karnataka alone.
‘James’ was released on Puneeth’s birthday (March 17th) across Karnataka. It was released in more than 500 screens and 4000 shows across Karnataka. This is the first of its kind in Karnataka as none of the previous films got released in so many theaters and to that many shows. The film is expected to garner 25 crores on the first day itself.
Earlier, Dhruva Sarja’s ‘Pogaru’, Darshan’s ‘Robert’ and Puneeth’s ‘Yuvaratna’ which were released last year, had managed to collect up to 15 crores on the release day itself. Now, ‘James’ has broken all the previous records and it is not easy to break such a record in the near future.
Many theaters screened 7 to 8 shows on the first day and show started from early morning 5.00 AM itself. The advance bookings were open from one week before and tickets have been booked till Monday.
This is just the collection report from Karnataka. ’James’ is a PAN Indian film which has been dubbed to Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi and has been simultaneously release in not only other states, but also overseas. The collection from other languages and states is yet to be included and the first day collection from all over reached up to 40 crores which is the highest for any Kannada film on its opening day.
‘James’ stars Puneeth Rajkumar, Priya Anand, Sharath Kumar, Avinash and others in prominent roles. Shivarajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar are seen in guest roles in the film. The film is written and directed by Chethan Kumar, while Kishore Pathikonda is the producer.
