‘Big Boss 8’ contestant and activist Prashanth Sambargi has questioned the very existence of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. With the KFCC supporting the 11 day padayatra organized by the Indian National Congress, Sambargi has questioned whether the full form of KFCC is Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce or Karnataka Film Chamber of Congress.
Recently, the KFCC had organized a press conference in Bangalore supporting the implementation of Mekedatu Water Project. Though president Jairaj said that the KFCC has nothing to do with the Congress rally, many Congress Party members and actors were present at the occasion.
Well known actors who are affiliated to the Congress party including Dr Jayamala, Umashree, Mukhyamantri Chandru, Madan Patel, KFCC ex-president Sa Ra Govindu were present at the press conference. Their presence raised doubts whether KFCC has joined hands with the Congress.
The KFCC which is considered as the parent organization of the Kannada film industry, in all these years have not recognized with any single party. But now, KFCC publicly supporting the rally and organizing a press conference in Congress Party’s favour has raised doubts whether it is affiliated to Congress. Even Shivarajkumar who was supposed to be a part of the Padayatra inaugural ceremony skipped the event at the last minute, as it might send wrong signal to the general public. Now many people from the Kannada film industry including Prashanth Sambargi and Roopa Iyer have started questioning KFCC’s move. Prashanth Sambargi has criticized this through his social media account and Roopa Iyer has condemned the KFCC’s decision to support the Padayatra.
Many celebrities from the Kannada film industry is planning to hold a protest in this regard on Monday.
