Director Giriraj has always placed storytelling at the forefront and his films are recognised for their unconventional concepts. Songs are relatively uncommon in Giriraj’s films. But for a change, Giriraj is all set to entertain the audience with a commercial musical thriller in his upcoming film ‘Kalyani’.

The film is a collaborative venture between Giriraj and his friend Kumarswamy, with whom he shares a two-decade long friendship. The duo has formed a production company and ‘Kalyani’ is its first venture. The film is already complete and three songs from the film were released recently by director Shashank who appreciated Giriraj’s distinctive approach to filmmaking.

The film features three songs that contribute to its emotional depth and narrative appeal. Music composer Bharat BJ has blended folk elements and traditional instruments into the compositions. One of the songs, ‘Ninna Lukku Fantastikku’, has been composed by All Okay. The team has used Jnanapeeth Award winning poet Da Ra Bendre’s popular poem ‘Bangara Neera’ which has song by Bharath BJ. The third song has been sung by Prithvi Bhat.

Speaking on the occasion, Giriraj described ‘Kalyani’ as a film that goes beyond the conventional idea of a pan-India project, calling it an Indian film with a wider emotional appeal. ‘The film explores inner conflicts, relationships and the question of who truly belongs in our lives. With a blend of action, dance and emotion, the film aims to offer audiences a distinctive cinematic experience’ said the actor-director.

Lead actor Samrat Shetty said that ‘Kalyani’ would be a film that audiences in Karnataka could proudly identify with. The film also features Simran Kaur, P D Satish, Samragni and Punjabi actor Rahul Jaitley in prominent roles. Actress Yamuna Srinidhi plays the antagonist in the film. She said she accepted the role because it offered her an opportunity to showcase her acting abilities.

Gnanesh and Arju have handled the editing, while Prashanth Sagar is the cinematographer. The film will be releasing in Kannada and Hindi soon.
