The title of director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film starring Rajinikanth was revealed on Monday. The film which was previously titled as ‘Thalaivar 171’ has been officially titled as ‘Coolie’.
Apart from revealing the title, the first teaser of the film has also been released and the fans of the actor are in full awe of the teaser. The fans took to social media and have appreciated Lokesh Kanagaraj for the making and Rajinikanth’s presence and look in the film
A number of individuals are shown working with gold at a workshop, making anything from watches to chains. One gets a call that there has been a security breach by an unidentified individual. A goon goes outside to smash the individual with a gold chain, but instead he is beaten up. Then ensures a battle with Rajinikanth and the goons. One of the highlights of the teaser, is only the gold colour is evident in the black and white teaser throughout.

The actor had earlier played a coolie in films like ‘Mannan’, ‘Uzhaipaali’ and ‘Mullum Malarum’. The film is said to be not a part of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s cinematic universe.
Rajinikanth was last seen in his daughter Aishwarya’s directorial ‘Lal Salaam’ which was released earlier this year. The superstar is currently busy with the shooting of T J Gnanavel directorial ‘Vettaiyan’ where he is sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil and others.
‘Coolie’ is being produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures who had earlier produced Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ and others. Anirudh Ravichander is the music composer.
